Making Sense of Your Closet

I’m currently in the process of moving house, the actual move should be happening around early April, but obviously the preparations for the move have already started. One of the things I have been thinking about, which I would like to make happen in my new apartment, is the re-organization of my closet.

Currently my closet is a maze. I have many items there which I barely wear, some which I constantly wear, and some other items which are reserved for special occasions. Then there are those surprise items: those items of clothing which have gotten deeply buried in the closet you don’t see them for months, and then when you’re in the process of searching for an item, there they are to surprise you. My usual reaction to this is, “Oh my! I had totally forgotten about you!”.

Obviously this is not a healthy closet situation at all. Many a time dressing up turns into a very stressful situation when I cannot find the items I have in mind. So it is of utmost importance that I lay some closet organization rules in my apartment! Or better, train myself at better closet re-organization.

Whilst looking around online for some tips and tricks to help me achieve this, I came across a very interesting e-book which I had to share with you all. This e-book, written by Carol Foster, is called ‘The Marker Method’ and it is a sensible, step-by-step approach to organizing your closets and drawers piece by piece, in just minutes per day. This is exactly what I was looking for! This free to download e-book helps you identify the pieces that form your actual wardrobe, and divide and conquer the rest, to achieve closet heaven.

This e-book is a great start to successful wardrobe planning! So if like me, you’re a little bit dis-organized when it comes to your closet management and need some tips, download ‘The Marker Method’ today. It’s free and quick!

Pair it up with an old favorite, the Lena Palazzo Pants in black, and there is the comfort. The fabric drapes and flowers with your every move. “My favorites for Valentine’s Day or any other special day? I can’t just choose one! Can I do five? Ok, I will settle for three. I think I must have blogged the hell out of the tuxedo pants. They are do elegant! I would just pair it with a white crisp shirt with ruffles and red stilettos and a red clutch. Michelle just reminds me of Carmen seductively plain with her skirt as she flirted with Don Jose. And Celine, oh Celine! I want you, so bad! Besides being a sucker for lace, I am the biggest fan of this dress because it shows off just the right amount of skin on the chest, and legs and creates a dramatic, powerful effect with the overdress.”

And there you have it. Valentine’s Day choices from the IGIGI team. This will definitely give you a head start if you’re stuck and unsure what to wear on Valentine’s Day!

5 Essential Fashion Tips for Full Figured Women

With many options nowadays readily available to plus size women in the clothing department, especially online, a curvy lady needs to choose items which will flatter her figure and at the same time be comfortably fitting. Here are 5 essential tips to keep in mind, which have been brought to us by Kristine Blenkhorn Rodriguez of the Chicago Tribune.

  1. Fabric counts! Ensure the fabric you choose it not a crunchy one as this type can make you look bigger.
  2. Avoid pleats. These are a definite no no for plus size women as they magnify curves, no enhance them!
  3. Don’t sweat it. Wicking fabrics are a must for larger women.
  4. Avoid clothes that do not give definition to your shape! (Items also known as tents.) Hiding under loose fabric does not help and does not look good.
  5. Avoid clothing with cuts towards the middle of the body, as this puts emphasis on this area of the body. Instead choose items which make the most of your best assets, legs for example.

How to wear black

An interesting article I came across at TheIndyChannel.com discusses how more and more fashion designers nowadays are focusing on plus size fashion and the needs of curvy women. It goes on to explore how a staple item in every woman’s closet is something in the color black; basically the reason for this is because this helps women look slimmer. However the article goes on to emphasize that it’s not merely just a question of wearing something black; if one wears something black that is baggy and oversized, that is not going to be of much help to flatter the figure! Instead women should focus mostly on fit and fabric, even if it’s in black. Read the full article today at TheIndyChannel.com.
