Kiyonna Closes… For a Day!

Missphit Clothing Hits the Big Media… Again

Missphit is going from strength to strength. The success of their Spring line is evident from the recent media exposure their received on two leading magazines.

In fact, Missphit has received yet another appearance in the popular Latina magazine, this time in the June issue. A very fresh spring Missphit tunic was included in a piece which gives tips to ladies wanting to wear shorts, the right way.

Thirteen Minutes Magazine, a bi-cultural Asian American magazine also featured a Missphit top in a piece included in a recent issue.

Joy Nash Hits the Big Press

The LA Times has featured last week featured plus size ‘activist’, model and actress Joy Nash in an article last week. You will surely recall Joy Nash from the very popular YouTube video she put out called the ‘Fat Rant’, which has created a great stir. Well looks like Joy managed to create a really big stir and even caught the attention of the LA Times! The paper has interviewed Joy in an article published last week, which you can read here.

As always it is absolutely great to see strong plus size women be so successful, and get acknowledgment and exposure in the mainstream media and such a reputable publication.

Martini Mondays with the Voluptuous Woman Company

Martini and Manicures Monday will be held on Monday, May 14th and Monday, May 21st. This club is located at 11th and U Street NW, upstairs from the Bohemian Caverns Restaurant.

Old Navy Without the Curves… Removes Plus Size Line

There have been several online new sites in the last couple of days reporting on the fact that Old Navy will be removing their plus size clothing line from their stores. It’s sad to see that such a big chain will be closing it’s doors to a whole lot of curves, and a whole lot of business!

Glen L. Johnson has some interesting ideas on the topic, about reasons why Old Navy took this step. Lack of advertising tops the list, and I’m pretty sure he’s right, that this factor played a very important role. Talking from an online marketing perspective, I am always on the lookout for new plus size stores and plus size related advertising always catches my eye. Thinking about it now, I’ve never actually seen an advert or promotion online by Old Navy which focuses solely on pushing their plus size line. So indeed that must be one big factor.

Oh well, too bad for Old Navy I guess. With the increasing plus size clothing options coming to be available for curvy women these days, I’m sure all full figured women will survive and keep on being even more stylish.

Chenese Lewis on Dr. Phil

Chenese Lewis, the first woman ever to be crowned Miss Plus America, will tomorrow Friday, 4th May be on the Dr. Phil show!

The title of the show is “Overweight and Forgotten.” In the second segment of the show Chenese will be giving advice to a plus-size woman who is interested in plus size modeling and participating in pageants but has a lack of support from her boyfriend who constantly criticizes her and thinks she needs to lose weight.
