Alight to Add 900 Hot Plus Size Fashions

Sydney's Closet Walk the Red Carpet

Curvy fashion is increasingly being showcased in the media, and I was glad to see that two elegant evening gown from Sydney’s Closet appeared on the red carpet when the TODAY Show showcased formal dresses for special nights in the lives of plus size women.

This segment proved that even if you’re not up for any Academy Award you can still have your own personal red carpet moment.

“We threw Oscar a curve,’’ Catherine Schuller, stylist to the stars, told TODAY show anchor Natalie Morales when the segment aired on the eve of the 79th Academy Awards.

Catherine showcased two dresses from Sydney’s Closet: “Sea Goddess”, a Sydney’s Closet Exclusive design in red satin, and “Moulin Rouge”, a dramatic strapless evening gown in crimson with high-low hem and lace up back.

I think it is very positive that plus size fashion is being given such prominent exposure on TV, especially on such special and popular times, as that of the Academy Awards.

Full Figured & Fabulous Comes to Charlotte, NC

DeVoe Signature Events and Bella Donna Designs in association with Na’arah International is proud to bring Charlotte, NC the Full Figured & Fabulous Runway Model Competition and Plus Size Fashion Show on Saturday, March 31, 2007.

The fashion show will include the the collections of Bella Donna Designs, Voluptuous Woman Company, Alisina & Co, Monif C Plus Sizes and the Scarlett Boutique.

This event will be held at the Blake Hotel located in beautiful downtown Charlotte, NC. Doors open at 6:00pm for exhibitor/vendor displays and shopping. Competition starts at 7:00pm. Winning Curves at the Academy Awards

Besides being very happy that Whitaker walked away a winner last night at The Academy Awards, I saw even more happy to hear that our beloved Jennifer Hudson walked away with one of those little golden statuettes as well! Jennifer won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Effie White in ‘Dreamgirls‘. In the movie, Effie White is a talented singer whose weight leads her manager and lover to relegate her to a back-up role in her singing group.

I am so so happy for Jennifer! And besides her winning, she looked absolutely stunning last night in a brown Oscar de la Renta gown. The chosen shades of brown blended in greatly with Jennifer and her make up, hairstyle and accessories topped everything off. Jennifer’s gown fit her like a dream, and the jewels from Fresh Leighton definitely were the cherries on the cake!

Well done Jennifer, you have proven that curves can definitely go a long was, and are worth gold!

About a Curvy Blogging Year

I have been blogging for almost a year now, and so far it has been a very rewarding and satisfying experience. Over this past year The Plus Size Clothing Scoop has, among other things, enabled me to meet a lot of like minded people in the curvy blogosphere.

Recently I had the pleasure to get to know the bloggers behind a fresh and brand new plus size focused blog: About Curves The Blog. A blog which has just been launched on Valentine’s Day, it groups up a team of bloggers, who plan on sharing their thoughts, experiences, rants and raves, always from a plus size perspective.

How About Curves?

Every day I’m surprised by the multitude of choice plus size women have available to them nowadays. Perhaps the online market is much for plus size friendly than brick and mortar stores?

Although I’m aware and familiar with my plus size specialized stores, everyday I come across new stores, which offer something unique and different to any other store I was aware of.

Yesterday I came across what looks like another excellent source of plus size lingerie and intimate wear – AboutCurves.com. Although I still have to try out the ‘full customer experience’ with AboutCurves.com, I can immediately tell they have something good going on!

The website navigation is very user friendly, and I love how all the models used are actually all plus sized and so normal looking, and I don’t mean that in a negative way mind you! They are all very beautiful. I just want to point out how refreshing it is that plus size stores actually used plus size women to model their items. It makes it so much more of a pleasant shopping experience, and it goes to show that the people responsible for AboutCurves.com went that extra step to ensure the market they are targeting will feel comfortable and at home whilst browsing around. Well done indeed!

IGIGI's Spring Collection Preview

IGIGI new Spring collection is just around the corner. From what I’ve heard, this new collection is bound to be IGIGI’s hottest, therefore ladies we have something to look forward to, and I am sure IGIGI will not let us down!

This weekend we’ve been given a sneak peek into the new Spring collection, which gives us a small taste of the good things to come. IGIGI has launched a limited edition Spring dress: the Circle Print Wrap Dress. In this limited edition print, this dress screams out class and chic.

Fun meets funky in this geometric take on the classic wrap dress, which can be dressed up with a black coat, pumps, accessories and a small clutch bag. It can also be used in a more casual occasion if paired up with a fitted denim jacket, wedge shoes and a tote bag for instance. What a great piece and quite a steal for only $89.00!

Seeing the great dress, I can’t wait to see what IGIGI have to offer in their new Spring collection!
