Plus Size Women Taking Center Stage

An interesting article, which appeared in the LA Times last week, looks at the changing figure of women showcased within the media. It refers to the cover of the June issue of Harper’s Bazaar, which features Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, and without making any excuses says that this picture is plain wrong.

As Booth Moore from the LA Time puts it:

"There’s a new look taking over this town: Strong, curvy women are at the top of every segment of pop culture, including film, TV and music. And we’re not talking about a certain size 4 Latina pop star who happens to have a round bottom."

The article talks about curvy women in the limelight such as Jennifer Hudson, America Ferrera and Beth Ditto, women who are curvy, beautiful, successful and making it in the skinny dominated sectors.

This is just the beginning, the future looks very curvy.
