As I'm sure many of you have already heard, retired catwalk star Tyra Banks, hosted a contest for plus size beauties yesterday during her talk show. America's Next Top Model host has said that "You do not have to be super stick skinny in order to model." The voluptuous beauties who entered this contest, strutted their stuff yesterday on the TYRA show, fighting for the chance to show off their bodies and be named the winner! Among the judges of the contest, present were Mia Tyler, Josh Morrow and Ruben Studdard.

The first Top Plus-Size Model winner was Marguerite Brown, who weighs 218 pounds! Besides having the honor of being the first plus size woman to be crowned Top Plus-Size Model on the TYRA show, Marguerite won a photo spread opportunity with the new Bombshell magazine, as well as a $1,000 shopping spree and a one-year contract with top modelling agency Wilhelmina Models.

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving holiday yesterday! Today, I just got started with my Black Friday online shopping at my favorite plus size clothing stores. I started with Torrid, since they offer very reliable international shipping, and they also are currently having my favorite 50% off clearance items sale.

So here is what I bought:

1. Faux Fur Trimmed Black Embroidered Sweater Coat: I just fell in love with this sweater. It looks so warm and cozy. It's perfect to wear to work (we have quite casual dress policy at work), and also to go out in it during the evening.

2. Rumba Red Velvet Tie Back Top: This season I love red, I have already bought two pairs of red shoes from the local shops here, and this top will be perfect to wear with them. Good on jeans, and also on a denim skirt, a very sexy number indeed. Can't wait to wear it.

3. Black Crinkle Skirt: This was a bargain at $9.99! I suspect I will wear it mostly in summer, than in the colder months, but it being black it will definitely come in handy and will be made good use of.

With Thanksgiving only a couple of days away and Christmas a little over a month away, I though it was time to reveal our final list of plus size dresses we recommend full figured women look at, as options to wear during the holiday season.

If you follow the Plus Size Clothing Scoop, you will remember that in around mid October I released our preview list, which included the top 5 plus size Christmas holiday dresses I had our eye on. This was only the preview list, as it was a little too early to conclude things; I was sure our favorite plus size clothing stores still had more in store for us. And I was right! Our favorite stores brought out their holiday dresses and fashions. In fact the final list has been extended to list 10 plus size dresses which are perfect for the holidays! Some dresses have changed positions, some have stayed where they were, and others have been pushed out of the list by better options. Without further ado, I shall leave you to look at our chosen dresses.

1. Fiorella Lace Gown with Shrug in Red from IGIGI
Our true winner from IGIGI still holds the top spot! This gorgeous gown remains our top favourite dress to wear during the special Christmas holiday season. Colored perfectly in red, the lace make it look chic and warm at the same time. Beautiful stretch lace has an iridescent effect due to a contrasting lining. The final post, brought to us by IGIGI, give us tips on two different ways we can apply our make up when attending a party this holiday season. One way is to focus the attention on the eyes, whereas the other method focuses the attention of the make-up on the lips.

If you've missed the post from this series here is a quick recap: the first post in this 3 post series focus on the hottest trend for plus sizes dresses this Christmas; whilst the second post detailed tips and tricks on two different methods to fix up your hair, to make a lasting impression during a party.

Make-up - Hollywood Retro Glam

Remember that you only want to play up the eyes or the lips, but not both. Nobody wants the Tammy Fay Glam look.

Playing up the Eyes: (think Jessica Alba)

1. Curl your lashes to their maximum potential, and then glue a strip of falsies or even a few single falsies to your upper lash line. While they may not be for everyone, fasle eyelashes are great for special occasions. They are fairly easy to use (especially with a little practice), and can greatly emphasize the eyes. They can range from mild to wild. Keep in mind that false lashes don't have to be dramatic; they can be used to fill out a regular lashes. The difference simply having a fuller lash can make is strong but subtle.
2. When everything has dried, accent your upper last in like with a black liquid liner, making sure to cover the base of the false lashes.
3. To create the retro effect, slightly wing out the liner in an upward motion when you hit the outer edge of your eyes. Not to much on this or you'll look more like Cleopatra chic than Hollywood glamour.
4. Next sweep a sheer, white-shimmer eye shadow across your entire lid, following by a soft taupe color along the crease.
5. The finishing touch - apply black mascara to your top and bottom lashes for extra oomph.
6. Nude cheeks and lips will perfect your vintage-glam look.

Playing up the Lips: (think Michelle Williams)

1. With this look keep eyes light, but defined. Brush a shimmering white shadow over your entire lid area and then line your upper lashes with a dark brown pencil.
2. Finish your eyes with a generous application of black mascara to only your top lashes.
3. Sweep a peach-hued blush (a shade that works with your skin tone) across the appled of your cheeks to warm up your complexion.
4. To set the stage for your fabulous red pout, start with defining your lips with a sharp pencil lip liner and then fill them in with the pencil as well. Then top it off with a bold red shade. The liner helps your color stay in place and when it starts to fade, it will fade evenly. Try a few shades in the department store first to find out what goes right with your skin tone.

Eye-turning Tip:
The key to good mascara application is to go as close to the root of the lash as possible. A common mistake is to apply a lot at the ends of the lashes while ignoring the roots. This leads to the last being lighter near the eye, which looks unbalanced and does not emphasize the eyes itself, which is the goal.

As always, don't wait until the night of your party to try these ideas, play around a couple of days before. You don't want to stress out the night of the party because you don't have enough hair pins or lash glue.

This is the second post, in a series of three plus size holiday party tips brought to us by IGIGI. Whereas in the first post, IGIGI guided us to what the hottest trend is, as regards to plus size dresses... this time round IGIGI bring to us some hair-do tips and tricks.

Hollywood Red Carpet Hair

Down Do - Sexy Tousled Hollywood Curls (think Selma Hayek)

1. Apply mousse to wet hair and blow-dry with a round, mixed-bristle brush.
2. Set hair in large hot rollers, smoothing each piece of hair before rolling it.
3. Next, gently remove the rollers and lightly spray the curls with hairspray and let the curls cool before doing anything else.
4. Once your curls are cool, part your hair to one side (whichever is most flattering to your face) and run a flat, mixed-bristle brush down the length of your hair. Not to much brushing, once or twice should suffice.
5. Last but not least - apply a finishing cream for added shine.

Up Do - The Classic Low Bun (think Reese Witherspoon)

1. For a polished, low turn, apply mousse to damp hair and blow-dry with a round, mixed-bristle brush.
2. Work in a styling gel from the mid-length of your hair down the ends; this will make your tresses easier to manage.
3. Separate the hair along the crown of your forehead from the rest of your locks, and pin it loosely out of the way.
4. Pull back the bottom half of your hair into a low ponytail, and secure it with a clear, snag-free elastic at the nape of your neck.
5. Twist the ponytail and wrap it around the base, securing it with bobby pins.
6. Take the hair from the top of your head and then tease the roots in small sections to create volume. Then wrap and pin the ends around the base of the bun.
7. Tame any flyaways with a small amount of finishing cream, apply hairspray for an extra, all-over hold and voila! A chic chignon.

Hair Flying Tip:
Getting off work late and running to a party with no time in between? Adding some barrettes, pins or other fun hair adornments is great for livening up the locks!

That is why I am today taking a closer look at three unique and intriguing plus size fashion designers, in a bid to bring you a little step closer to those designing the awesome plus size fashions we have available on the market nowadays. Knowing 'where your clothes come from', like a piece of art, will make you cherish them more.

Yuliya Zeltser of IGIGI
A fashion designer born and raised in Ukraine, Yuliya felt the need to provide full figured women with beautiful clothing, when she saw how hard it was for her own mother to find clothes in her size that made her feel like a gorgeous and chic woman. An interesting article I am across online yesterday explores issues around a person's weight, and how this can interfere with their career. The article describes how two different plus size women worked their way around the fact that their weight was indeed having an impact on their career; with one woman shedding pounds to get ahead and the other refusing to let the weight interfere.

It's an interesting read and shows you how different people tackle these issue in a different and personal way, and a lot of it I think has much to do with working environment, and ultimately the way you feel with yourself. Although I have personally experienced weight discrimination on many occasions, I have been fortunate enough not to have experienced this on my place of work. That would really be distressing if it had to happen.
