It's always good to find new things! Especially when finding new store to shop around in. I love it when I have ample choice; when my shopping is not limited. Having said that having too many choices sometimes makes me either buy more than I should, or makes me spend more time trying to decide what to get from the choices at hand.

Anyways, I recently came across a 'new' plus size clothing store online called Curvety.com. I write 'new' because it's really new to me, I haven't yet found out whether this online store has been around for long. Although that doesn't really matter for now, as the good things is that I found it, and I can share it with you ladies!

A great opportunity is on the way for budding plus size models, and seasoned plus size models alike. DeVoe Signature Events is looking for 10 plus size runway models (sizes 14 to 20) to be in the fashion showcase at the Full Figured & Fabulous competition in Charlotte, NC on 31st March, 2007.

Participants will not be participating as a contestant, but will be modeling in the fashion show part of the competition. Ideally, anyone interested should live in the Charlotte area or should be able to travel on their own to the show. Travel expenses will not be reimbursed.

Model Call Details
There is no fee to audition. There will be one mandatory rehearsal for this show that's it. The model call will be held on 10th February, 2007 at 3:00PM at The Blake Hotel, 555 South McDowell Street, Charlotte, NC.

This event on March 31st will be a great networking opportunity for all aspiring plus models to meet other plus models, designers and other movers and shakers in the plus size fashion industry!

A big well done to curves! A big well done to Jennifer Hudson, who has now been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for her role in Dreamgirls. As Liria Mersini reports, in her Dreamgirls role Jennifer plays the character of Effie White, a name and role synonymous with plus size power. After reading and reviewing at a lot of different write ups and features online on the fashion (and talent!) which was showcased at the Golden Globes 2007 awards ceremony, I decided to give my two cents. I'm going to through what I thought were the most elegantly dressed women, giving special attention obviously to the plus size fashion and beauty which was showcased in the Golden Globes in 2007.

Without a shadow of a doubt, and I think many other plus size fashionistas share my opinion here, I believe this year's Golden Globes Curvy Goddess title goes to Queen Latifah. Take a look at the gorgeous turquoise gown which she wore on the night. The wrap around the bust area hugs her bosom, and give her a classy cleavage. The rest of the dress falls and flows in a dreamy way. Very princess-like! The matching, same fabric, shawl is of course a necessity.

Notice how the Queen finishes off, and completes, her outfit with simple and very elegant accessories. The drop ear-rings, with matching necklace and bracelet are simple, but effective. Then I love how Queen Latifah put the cherry on the cake/outfit by matching it up with a very colorful and original hand-bag. Perhaps the Queen always needs to put in a touch of more than one color in her outfit? If so, she does it very nicely in this outfit. This shows that you can add color to your outfit without it being necessarily on your clothes. Sometimes wearing just one color works well, and is needed, however added colors still can be added nicely and elegantly to such an outfit through the accessories used.

Queen Latifah has become a symbol of curvy style. I love her sense of styles as she always manages to make use of vibrant colors in the most flattering way, and her outfit choices always show off her curves. The Queen should be both an example and an inspiration to all those who do not think one can show off their curves in a sexy and chic way. Queen Latifah proves this 'theory' wrong over and over again, and here at the Golden Globes she has done it once again.

A hot trend this autumn/winter season is the 'flirty tomboy' look: a casual tomboy feel with a feminine twist. This look is a favorite among many plus size teens this season, and I'd like to dish out some tips on what you need to achieve this comfy and sweet look.

I ran across a lot of new stuff today which I have to share you with all. Now this one is a very interesting 'project' I ran into. It's called 'Plus+' and it's a short film created by Standard Grooming Productions.

So what's the movie about? It's about Victoria, a once a top plus-size model, who has seen her fortunes change since the industry shifted to 'padding up' thinner models to make their torsos appear large while retaining their toned arms and chiseled features. With bankruptcy looming and her confidence shattered, Victoria's only hope of regaining her former glory and her financial independence hinges on the Gamble Girl audition. But Tiffany, the current top plus-size model who despises fat people, will stop at nothing to be the next Gamble Girl.

Watch trailer of this, what look like it's going to be, a very interesting and eye opening short film today. In the meantime I am trying to find out whether this movie is still in production, and if not where I can get my hands on it, to watch the full version. If anyone knows anything I might be missing please let me know!

I'm always glad to see new websites open up which are geared to plus size women and men. Whether they are fashion stores, blogs, networking sites, or anything else... I think it's a very positive sign that plus size women and their admirers are opening up, making their voice heard.

A very cool, and I suspect very fresh, website which I ran into today is Nation of Size. Now this is a website with a difference! They are calling themselves 'the size friendly video network' and they offer a different video every day of the week, which tackles a different topic each day. Your host Petey, is a very bubbly character, who I think is doing an amazing job.

I watched today's video, from the 'People of Size on Stage' series, which showcases Vanessa Conde who trained in opera, and is a regular in the house music scene.
