Making Sense of Your Closet

I'm currently in the process of moving house, the actual move should be happening around early April, but obviously the preparations for the move have already started. One of the things I have been thinking about, which I would like to make happen in my new apartment, is the re-organization of my closet.

Currently my closet is a maze. I have many items there which I barely wear, some which I constantly wear, and some other items which are reserved for special occasions. Then there are those surprise items: those items of clothing which have gotten deeply buried in the closet you don't see them for months, and then when you're in the process of searching for an item, there they are to surprise you. My usual reaction to this is, "Oh my! I had totally forgotten about you!".

Obviously this is not a healthy closet situation at all. Many a time dressing up turns into a very stressful situation when I cannot find the items I have in mind. So it is of utmost importance that I lay some closet organization rules in my apartment! Or better, train myself at better closet re-organization.

Whilst looking around online for some tips and tricks to help me achieve this, I came across a very interesting e-book which I had to share with you all. This e-book, written by Carol Foster, is called 'The Marker Method' and it is a sensible, step-by-step approach to organizing your closets and drawers piece by piece, in just minutes per day. This is exactly what I was looking for! This free to download e-book helps you identify the pieces that form your actual wardrobe, and divide and conquer the rest, to achieve closet heaven.

This e-book is a great start to successful wardrobe planning! So if like me, you're a little bit dis-organized when it comes to your closet management and need some tips, download 'The Marker Method' today. It's free and quick!

IGIGI's Spring Collection Preview

IGIGI new Spring collection is just around the corner. From what I've heard, this new collection is bound to be IGIGI's hottest, therefore ladies we have something to look forward to, and I am sure IGIGI will not let us down!

This weekend we've been given a sneak peek into the new Spring collection, which gives us a small taste of the good things to come. IGIGI has launched a limited edition Spring dress: the Circle Print Wrap Dress. In this limited edition print, this dress screams out class and chic.

Fun meets funky in this geometric take on the classic wrap dress, which can be dressed up with a black coat, pumps, accessories and a small clutch bag. It can also be used in a more casual occasion if paired up with a fitted denim jacket, wedge shoes and a tote bag for instance. What a great piece and quite a steal for only $89.00!

Seeing the great dress, I can't wait to see what IGIGI have to offer in their new Spring collection!

IGIGI Crew Share Valentine's Day Favorites

If you were wondering what the IGIGI team will be wearing for Valentine's Day, it's your lucky day as the girl have decided to spill the beans!

Members of the IGIGI crew this week spill the secrets and come out in the light with their favorite IGIGI items. Sticking to traditional Valentine's themes, some of the went for black and red, through some were bold to go as far as brown and raisin! However you're celebrating Valentine's day, here is the IGIGI crew at the best, showing off what they will be wearing this Valentine's day.

Tara - Wholesale Manager
Brocade Lace Wrap Top and Lena Palazzo Pants in Black
"When Valentine's Day comes around, and I get the pleasure of an evening out on the town with my husband I want to look beautiful. More importantly I want to be comfortable in what I am wearing so that I can enjoy the evening to the fullest. This year I found the perfect outfit to be both sexy and comfortable on Valentine's Day. The Brocade Lace Wrap Top is exactly what I was looking for. It is sexy and classic with its luxurious, Spanish inspired black and red lace and wrap style. Pair it up with an old favorite, the Lena Palazzo Pants in black, and there is the comfort. The fabric drapes and flowers with your every move. Add some knock out evening heels and that special piece of jewelry that makes your feel like a Queen and let the night take your where it will. Enjoy!"

Lana - Textile Designer
Hollyw
ood Diva Satin Gown with Matching Shawl in Red
"I am in such awe with this dress. It looks so dreamy when you see it on a woman as she moves."

Masha - Marketing Manager
Asymmetric Hem Tunic in Raisin

"I love this top; it's long, it covers your hips and provides a slimming look. The asymmetric detail gives it a funky twist, making it stand out with no need to accessorize. Throw it on jeans or any other pants and you will look great. It's a winner!"

Megan - Retail Associate
Lace Overcoat and Little Black Dress

"Did somebody say curves? These two hot numbers accentuate all of the right ones to create an elegant and sexy look. Not only are they perfect for Valentine's Day, but they would also look extremely stylish over a pair of jeans with a belt for a more casual night out on the town."

Lucie - Design Associate
Eternal Beauty Gown
"I love the Eternal Beauty Gown in red because... hmmm red and sexy, with some cleavage and a beautiful neckline, what does that make? Oh yeah, the perfect Valentine's Day dress which will make my date go crazy."

Alison - Customer Service
Novella Gown

"I love the Novella Gown because I feel glamorous and daring."

Jennifer - Graphic Designer
Catalina Dress in Brown

"I get so many compliments every time I wear this dress, especially from the male species. It's an easy throw on an just-look good with minimum effort dress."

Ozlem - Marketing & Media Coordinator
Andrea Tuxedo Pants in Black, Michelle Godet Skirt in Black/Red, Celine Lace Gown
"My favorites for Valentine's Day or any other special day? I can't just choose one! Can I do five? Ok, I will settle for three. I think I must have blogged the hell out of the tuxedo pants. They are do elegant! I would just pair it with a white crisp shirt with ruffles and red stilettos and a red clutch. Michelle just reminds me of Carmen seductively plain with her skirt as she flirted with Don Jose. And Celine, oh Celine! I want you, so bad! Besides being a sucker for lace, I am the biggest fan of this dress because it shows off just the right amount of skin on the chest, and legs and creates a dramatic, powerful effect with the overdress."

And there you have it. Valentine's Day choices from the IGIGI team. This will definitely give you a head start if you're stuck and unsure what to wear on Valentine's Day!

5. You can also opt for overalls to complete the look
6. Don't forget the hoodies!

The Fit and What Lies Beneath

Obviously the key to any item of clothing looking good on you is the fit. But how can you maximize an item's fit?

Well, it is best to start off by making sure that you have high-quality under-garments at hands. If you're a plus size lady unsure where to get your hands on great intimates, a good place to start is Lane Bryant's Cacique. Gorgeous lingerie and underpinnings are available here in plus sizes.

5 Essential Fashion Tips for Full Figured Women

With many options nowadays readily available to plus size women in the clothing department, especially online, a curvy lady needs to choose items which will flatter her figure and at the same time be comfortably fitting. Here are 5 essential tips to keep in mind, which have been brought to us by Kristine Blenkhorn Rodriguez of the Chicago Tribune.
  1. Fabric counts! Ensure the fabric you choose it not a crunchy one as this type can make you look bigger.
  2. Avoid pleats. These are a definite no no for plus size women as they magnify curves, no enhance them!
  3. Don’t sweat it. Wicking fabrics are a must for larger women.
  4. Avoid clothes that do not give definition to your shape! (Items also known as tents.) Hiding under loose fabric does not help and does not look good.
  5. Avoid clothing with cuts towards the middle of the body, as this puts emphasis on this area of the body. Instead choose items which make the most of your best assets, legs for example.
