Daily Venus Diva has posed a very interesting question to all readers today, or rather perhaps a question that many will find kind of obvious: What do you consider to be plus size?
I think this is a very interesting question to pose because we see so many different perceptions of this. In some magazines we see pretty thin women called plus size, on the catwalk it’s kind of the same, some plus focused stores start their lines at size 12, others at size 14, and some at size 18. So it seems that these different players in the fashion industry all have their own idea of what constitutes being plus size.
But today Daily Venus Diva is posing that question to you! Visit their site and vote in the poll to have your say. I would say plus size is 12 (US) and over. What do you think?
Thank you for reposting this!! We appreciate it!

I guess coming from a retail background i think plus starts at size 14
but it is subjective…too many labels

I would say 14. I am a 14 and buying 14 size clothing in a regular store the clothes just don’t fit right. If I buy a 14 or 1x in Lane Bryant the clothing fits much better…..
Since the average american woman is a 12 i think 16-18 should be the start of plus.
Yes i have to agree i think its 14-18

I agree with Lexie. 12, 14, even 16 are marginally “plus.” Personally, I hate the whole “plus-sized” thing anyway.
I’ve worked in plus size clothing stores so I’ve been conditioned that 14 is plus size so that’s what I’ve gone with for eight years and it’s hard to steer from that.
Personally, I’m with plus size starting at size 18. That’s when I really had a hard time shopping in regular stores. But it’s changed a lot. I have friends who are size 14 and have to shop at regular and plus stores to get their full wardrobe in order.
I do agree that the average size women is a 12, however i think plus size should start at 18. 14 and 16 are not plus size at all, most stores stock these sizes.

I don’t know exactly, cause I feel like sizes are changing so much these days. Like a 4 ain’t what it used to be, you know? I try and go pant shopping and get my regular 10, but it seems that that changes from one brand to the next. So, I wanna answer the question, but it’s hard to say!
