Hi ladies! We’re back today with more plus size swimwear style tips from the experts and this time we have the lovely Vanessa from Kiyonna share some advice. Kiyonna have this season come out with a gorgeous. retro inspired plus size swimsuit collection, so we had to see what they thought looks best on our curves on beach!
Pasazz.net: What should a curvy woman consider when she is out and about swimsuit shopping?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: She should think – “Am I containing my wobbly bits- and what part of my body do I really want to focus on flaunting while wearing a bathing suit.” For example: I’m all about the boobs- so I go for some more daring necklines because I have the cleavage for it- I have a great friend who does not, but she totally has the perfect hourglass figure and basically, a great behind so she goes for a more conservative front with great back detail (scoop back, cut outs, a great curve hugging sarong).
Pasazz.net: What do you think are the 3 most flattering swimsuit styles for a full figured woman?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: Surplice Malliot, halter-top swim dresses, retro 50’s inspired fitted suits (ruching is a plus!)
Pasazz.net: Which are this season’s hottest colors in swimwear?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: Fuchsia, burnt oranges, and the perfect teal. Black, lipstick red and navy are classic swim colors
Pasazz.net: Do you encourage full figured women to wear colorful swimsuits, with prints?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: Totally- color looks great on curves- there’s something very confidence boosting about wearing a great bright color. And prints- if done the right way are fabulous. I always stay away from the very large ones- you know it’s bad if you have a huge flower covering half your bottom or worse, one boob.
Pasazz.net: What accessories would you recommend for a beach perfect outfit?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: Depends on what color you are going with- but for a bold bright solid color I love adding gold or silver hoops and a long necklace- it just adds that final touch. Of course this is if you are the more lounge by the pool kind of girl- maybe not for the super active diver’s/surfers. Cover-ups are the best accessory too!
Pasazz.net: What swimsuit styles does Kiyonna offer in 2011?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: Very figure flattering retro inspired pieces with built in support systems. We have a more daring surplice style with curve enhancing ruching in the midsection with a slight cover-up of the upper thigh area. Also the Ava Convertible has a little more coverage up on top with so many different options- great for people with commitment issues. LOL!
Pasazz.net: What advice would you give to plus size women who do not feel comfortable enough to hit this beach and poolside this summer?
Vanessa from Kiyonna: Embrace those curves- the only thing you can wear to really make you feel comfortable anywhere is your confident smile. When you are poolside in the right suit, you feel like the best possible version of “you” and everyone will notice.
