Get Glowing Skin with Turmeric
You have probably already heard about the many health benefits of using turmeric in your dishes. However, most people are not aware of the beauty benefits of this very popular India spice.
Turmeric or curcuma longa is a perennial shrub found in India and south-east Asia. The spice if often used as a beauty treatment for brides since it enhances complexion and gives it a golden glow. Let’s take a look at some of the ways that you can use turmeric to enhance the health and complexion of your skin.
Reduces Facial Hair
Since ancient times, turmeric has been used for reducing and lightening facial hair. The spice can be mixed with chickpea flour and applied on the face to lighten as well as reduce thick hair growth on the face. Remove this face mask by gently scrubbing it after about 20 minutes. Turmeric can also be mixed with your usual face scrub to reduce facial hair.
Gets Rid of Acne
Turmeric has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. This is why it is so effective against acne. Just mix it with plain water and apply it on the individual pimples overnight. Wash it off in the morning. It can also be mixed with lemon or cucumber juice and applied on the whole face. This reduces acne, evens out the skin complexion, and prevents future breakouts.
For Wrinkle-free Skin
Add a pinch of turmeric to raw milk and tomato juice. You can also use milk cream instead of raw milk here. Apply it on the face to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. This can be left on the skin for about 30 minutes and then washed off with lukewarm water. Follow it up with a light moisturizer or your favorite anti-wrinkle cream.
You can also add chickpea flour or rice flour to make a smooth paste and apply it as a thick face mask for the same results.
Great for Oily Skin
Excessive sebum causes oiliness on the face which can further lead to blackheads and acne. Turmeric regulates the production of sebum, thus giving you a glowing complexion and blemish-free skin. Add a little bit of turmeric to orange juice and apply it on your face. Wash it off after 30 minutes.
Get a Beautiful Body with Turmeric!
There is a reason that brides in India use turmeric a night before their wedding. It gives a beautiful glow to the body. Mix turmeric powder with sandalwood powder and make a smooth paste. Apply this mask on your whole body and allow it to stay on for about 30 minutes. Take a bath with lukewarm water. Avoid using soap while bathing.
You can also add a little turmeric to your massage oil. Olive, coconut or almond oil are best to get a glowing skin. Just massage the oil mixed with turmeric into your skin and then take a bath with lukewarm water. It will leave your skin soft and glowing and prevent acne.
There is no doubt that turmeric is one of little-known beauty herbs in the Western world. However, it has been commonly used for beautification purposes in India for centuries. You don’t have to do anything special to get these beauty benefits. Just add a little bit of turmeric powder to your usual face or body masks and enjoy glowing and clear skin.
