Top 5 Plus Size Christmas Holiday Dresses – The Preview List
by Sarah Testa

Plus size Christmas dressChristmas is creeping in on us slowly, slowly! Holiday themed commercials are popping up here and there so I could not help myself to some early season 'window' shopping online, just to satisfy my curiosity and see what holiday plus size fashions have already been made available at my favorite stores.

I was particularly interested in looking at the formal dresses available, dresses which would be perfect to wear during the Christmas season either at parties or formal gatherings. Many beautiful styles and outfits are available already, so I just had to share my findings with you all! So the I decided to draw up a list of the top 5 plus size dresses which I think are wonderful for plus size women to wear during the Christmas holiday season. I am calling this my ‘preview list’ because I am sure within the coming months plus size clothing stores will bring out and reveal new dresses and styles made especially for the upcoming holiday season.

So if like me you're looking for a particular dress to wear during Christmas, or perhaps you're just curious to check out which dresses made it on the list, take a look at the preview list at https://pasazz.net/blog/2006/10/top-5-plus-size-christmas-holiday.html and have fun starting off your plus size Christmas shopping! This top 5 list will be updated (and also expanded) next month, including newer styles and options.

Dignité: Skin Care Products for Plus Size Skin

BariPeutic Health™, Inc., a company focused on providing dignity for people of size through innovative products designed to improve their quality of life, announced this summer the introduction of a line of skin care products that address the unique skin conditions of the plus size body. Recognizing that skin conditions associated with the plus size and bariatric patient are often overlooked and require special preventative care in order to maintain healthy skin, the company has unveiled the three-step Dignité™ skin care line formulated to cleanse, moisturize, and protect this delicate organ. Dignité’s three steps to healthier skin include:

1. Proper hygiene, which is often a problem for people of size. BariPeutic Health’s new Dignité™ Cleanse is a pH-balanced foaming cleanser that gently cleans hair and skin without requiring rinsing, and is specifically designed to clean skin folds.

2. Nourishment of the skin, including moisturizing and conditioning, which can be an essential element in the prevention of serious skin ailments that can occur, like xerosis. Dignité™Moisturize is formulated to smooth, nourish and soften the skin, especially the hands, feet and legs where moisturization is crucial.

3. The prevention and treatment of chafing and other serious skin irritations, like intertrigo, which can occur in delicate skin areas like under the breasts and inner thighs. Dignité™Protect is a skin protectant that provides relief from chafing and skin irritation which can occur from skin-on-skin friction.

“Prevention is critical to avoiding serious skin complications in the obese, such as fungal and bacterial infections, intertrigo, and pressure ulcers,” said Dr. Robert S. Kirsner at the University of Miami’s Department of Dermatology & Cutaneous Surgery. “These three Dignité products can be viewed as part of the basis for prevention.”

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Since 1996, Kiyonna have always believed that they sell a "feeling", rather than simply just a product. Of course, one cannot think of a better feeling than that of health.

This October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Kiyonna, along with other stores, are helping save lives. As the search for a cure continues, Kiyonna consider being unaware a very serious disease. For the month of October, Kiyonna is proudly donating 10% of proceeds from the PINK Boutique to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Help us eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease over and for all.

Shop the PINK Boutique at Kiyonna today at http://www.kiyonna.com and visit the The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation website at http://www.komen.org for more information on breast cancer and breast screenings.

Bare Necessities this month has also joined in the fight against breast cancer by partnering up with Wacoal in supporting breast cancer awareness and research. For every Wacoal bra bought at Bare Necessities through October 16, Bare Necessities will donate $2. The donations will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. For more information visit Bare Necessities at http://www.barenecessities.com and check out the details.

Maxine of Hollywood Plus Size Swimwear

Our very favorite plus size swimwear store, SwimsuitsForAll.com, have recently added some new styles to their stock from the Maxine of Hollywood Plus Sizes and Misses line of swimwear. The new styles available are very colorful and include 'skirted' swimsuit options; perfect for those ladies who, like me, are somewhat conscious of their inner-thigh area and would feel more comfortable by the pool if this area was covered up a little bit.

What's good about the Maxine of Hollywood line is that a number of their swimsuits include a 'tummy control' feature, which will help trim your figure's imperfections whilst maximizing your curves.

Most styles are priced at $64.00, however check directly at SwimsuitsForAll.com for actual pricing details.

Curves Raising Debate on the Catwalks

The appearance of plus size vixen Velvet d'Amour on the runway during the Paris Fashion week has raised a hot debate over the past few weeks.

For those of you who, like me, have never heard of Velvet d'Amour before, she is Jean Paul Gaultier's US born and Paris based runway "star" who made one memorable exit during the 2006 Paris Fashion week. In an interview held by The Sydney Morning Herald, found here http://blogs.smh.com.au/entertainment/archives/fashion_season/006613.html one easily notices that the bubbly Velvet d'Amour's one and only mission is to push size acceptance along and help the diversity of beauty. This is her main goal in life; an honorable one indeed, and one that I myself share.

However when reading a related article over at Blogcritics.org entitled 'Designer Jean-Paul Gaultier: No Friend to Fat Girls' at http://blogcritics.org/2006/10/06/174913.php, one easily realises that this plus model's appearance on the catwalk was not well received by all. Writer and singer Candye Kane argues that if our dear Gaultier really wanted to make a point and a statement, he would invest in his own plus size fashion line, instead of just parading plus size models on the runway.

Interesting thoughts indeed, however I think it's just great that plus size models are making their appearances on the top catwalks. Hopefully this is the start of a change in fashion stereotypes? Maybe. In the meantime you can participate in more discussions at Velvet d'Amour's message board at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Velvet_Vixen/.
