Real Bodies Unite is appealing to all those women fed up of being bombarded with images of super-skinny, emaciated models, by launching a global campaign to raise 10,000 signatures for the use of realistic body representation in fashion.
Real Bodies Unite is campaigning to get realistic imagery in every field of the fashion industry. The Campaign needs over 10,000 signatures to present to the fashion houses to prove the perspectives and insecurities women feel when unrealistic and airbrushed imagery is used in fashion.
Plus size resource and community website, www.100percentpeople.com, has launched the nationwide campaign last month, asking for the support of individuals who are disillusioned with the unrealistic and airbrushed imagery used by the fashion industry.
Although the average British woman is deemed a size 14, use of realistic bodies and beauty is something rarely seen in the fashion industry, which continues to use size six models at best. This misrepresentation often leads to body insecurities with young girls and teenagers turning to unhealthy measures to lose weight, even considering surgery. Girlguiding UK found one in two 16-21 year olds would consider surgery to change their appearance.
“Women across the world want to push forward change.” Explained owner of 100 Percent People; Kathryn Whatton.
There has been a huge response from individuals worldwide regarding body representation which has been seen in renowned women’s magazines; Glamour, V and Brigitte, suggesting that women do want to see real bodies. A recent study conducted by ComRes found 90% of people agreed that the media and advertising industry should use models with a broader range of body sizes. The campaign hopes to improve the body confidence of women, men and teens alike, ultimately reducing eating disorders and creating a healthy body image amongst society.
Kathryn adds, “The petition can be signed at the click of a button, it is simple. Just go on to www.100percentpeople.com and help us with our cause.”

ASOS has today launched CURVE, a new plus size line to complement the range of clothing they offer women.
CURVE offers items in sizes 20 to 26 and designs are very stylish and trendy from what I have seen so far. This is definitely a great addition to the curvy shopping options we already have.
A number of lucky bloggers already have had the chance to try on some pieces from CURVE by ASOS and most have loved the pieces. Have a look… Young, Fat and Fabulous, Plus Size Tall, Big Girls Browse and also Ma Grande Taille.

It’s been a while since I last posted on the Plus Size Clothing Scoop. I apologize for leaving everyone hanging like this, especially during the Holiday Season. But I have been busy working on the redesign and restructuring of both Pasazz.net and the Plus Size Clothing Scoop. The first phase of which you are seeing here today.
Before I get into the details however, I sincerely hope you all had a wonderful holiday season, and I wish you all the very best for 2010! Let’s hope this year brings about peace, health, love and happiness for all.
So, back to the redesign point. If you have been following the Scoop and Pasazz.net for a while you might have noticed that although the ‘main’ site (which is the plus size clothing directory) and the blog reside under the same domain (i.e. www.pasazz.net), and are part of the same ‘umbrella’, they have looked very different! Quite honestly there has not been a very good flow between them, and this is what I have been working to fix over the past few weeks.
I am redesigning both the directory section of Pasazz.net, and the blog section so there is much more consistency. So people landing on Pasazz.net and then clicking on to the blog will not feel like they have jumped into a different site. Instead they will feel like they have jumped into a separate section whithin the same site, which is the way it really is. In fact one major change is the blog logo, which you can see above, and which now follows the design used by the main Pasazz.net logo itself.
So today I am launching the new design on the blog, and over the coming days I will be launching the new design for Pasazz.net, which will be very similar to this design.
I hope everyone finds the new style easy to navigate. Please bear with my while I iron out some last minute hitches, and please leave your feedback in the comments below! Should you run into anything that doesn’t work, a broken link, or anything of the sort, please let me know. Your comments are much appreciated and encouraged.
So tell me, what are you first impressions of the new design?

You might recall way back in August, Glamour was all over the news and the blogosphere. Everyone was talking about the feature they published on plus size model Lizzie Miller, in which a photo was including, showing Lizzie in her natural beauty. Her belly and thighs were the talk of the town and for all the good reasons! Glamour received various accolades from women all over, and especially from the plus size community. Finally a leading fashion magazine was depicting real women in their full natural glory.
A lot of us thought this was just a onetime thing and that Glamour would forget about real women and real curves, but we gladly were mistaken here as Glamour’s November issue features seven plus size models. In an effort to continue encouraging women everyone to start loving their own bodies the way they are, Glamour has included this beautiful bodies spread in their latest issue. Let’s just hope Glamour continues to include such features on a regular basis. These kinds of issues and discussions should start becoming the norm in leading magazines, and should not be looked at in awe and surprise. This is what women want. So let’s keep on giving it to them.
